About this ebook

Can a marriage of convenience lead to something more?

After escaping war-torn Earth, Skylar seeks refuge on planet New Vaxx, where she’s expected to take a Vaxxlian warrior as a husband. Eager for a fresh start, she longs to settle down with one of the huge, protective aliens. But when Vaxxlian Matchmakers informs her that her one true soulmate has perished, she’s heartbroken, even though she never actually met the male. When she’s matched to a widowed Vaxxlian instead—as a marriage of convenience—she worries she’ll never find happiness with the gruff, controlling warrior named Tahrin. She can’t help but think she should’ve never visited Vaxxlian Matchmakers in the first place. What if she’s made a terrible mistake?

Big guy meets little human We return to New Vaxx and now Skylar, who has been eager to find a match, but was waiting on her sister to find a match (last book) is ready to face the matchmakers. When she arrives, she finds that she waited too long and her soulmate has just died. Instead, she’s offered a chance to marry a widowed Vaxxlain who lost his soulmate as well. Deja vu - they’d seen each other before and the chemistry is there. This was different than the other books in the series as their “soulmates” weren’t there but they really did have a connection. Doubts plague them both and the coming war doesn’t make things easy but they’ll try to find a way since the mating is for life. The other books in the series are soulmates meeting and finding a life together. This was a very different story and I think it would have benefitted from more character development highlighting how two “non-soulmates” manage to find an HEA. Still it was fun and you gotta love those big guys. And I liked Skylar who was very chatty….

Skylar and her sister escaped earth because of the political corruption that would ensure their death. When she went to the Matchmaker to meet her soulmate, she is told he was dead. She worried she would be alone the rest of her life. Admiral Tahrin’s mate died on an attack on another planet and he blames himself. Skylar and Tahrin decide to mate so they won’t be alone. Good short story with strong characters. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I could have shed a tear or two, I don’t want the story to end. They both lost their soulmates but they were given another chance at love and at happiness. I loved it. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
