There are several of these short stories ("A Cat Was Involved" and "The Iggy Chronicles" for instance) that add background and color to the series' full-length novels. They are all fun and a good quick (but not TOO quick) read. Here we learn the details of the often-mentioned, sadly funny, Teitelbaum divorce.

These Chet the Jet & Bernie mysteries are the only I know accurately written from the POV of a dog. How can i say accurately? I too know dogs, i.e. Shetland Sheepdogs (the smartest in the land... Next to Chet)!! Spencer Quinn's ability to capture dogs' joyous go-to qualities and their abiding and undying love for their masters through thick & thin is nothing short of amazing. I laughed my way through Tail of Vengeance, with all its surprise twists & turns, and came up to the end thoroughly delighted.
