Cute detective book narrated by the detective's dog (or, as the dog thinks of himself, the detective's partner). Chet is a very good dog and always does his best to help out Bernie, his owner/partner, but sometimes Chet gets distracted by snacks on the floor or the barking of a she-dog or whatever. Chet also has a lot of trouble remembering things, details like where the kidnapping victim is tend to fade from Chet's memory pretty quickly. Although Chet the narrator is doglike, his understanding of the missing persons case and the world in general is far advanced of a real dog. I think there's room for somebody to write a hilarious book narrated by a dog, where the dog understands very little of what is going on but the reader can figure things out from what the dog observes. This is not that book, but it's a fun book all the same.

This story of a PI and his dog partner, Chet, is great fun to read.
