Captain Leland Emet “Lee” Bolt (US Navy, retired) was born in Payette, Idaho, on August 30, 1928, and grew up in nearby Emmett. He graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1951 and served on USS Lenawee (APA-195), on USS Princeton (CVA-37), at US Fleet Gunnery School San Diego, and on USS Uhlmann (DD-687). While serving in the Naval Reserve, he was recalled to active Navy duty several times. He was a member of the engineering department at divisions of General Dynamics Corporation for thirty-three years. In 1975, he earned his MS in Systems Management from University of Southern California. Lee’s memberships include associate fellow in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), National Genealogical Society, US Naval Institute, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), Association of the US Navy and USS Midway Museum. Lee wrote Leland & Fern Bolt Heritage: Family, Business and City Service about his parents and associated ancestor history.
