My favourite SMS app for years. I downloaded Textra years ago and I always reinstall it when changing devices. I love it for the convenience of sending timed messages. You can schedule the date and time you want your messages to be delivered. Great tool as a reminder to someone else or if you want to make sure you don't forget to send an important message at the right time. Perfect when you are in different time zones. You can also translate messages if needed.

It's perfectly functional, and I like that the premium is 1 time pay vs subscription; wouldn't have gotten a subscription for this. However, it lacks some basic features that would improve quality of life. The two that come to mind are 1) search function within a given chat, not just global, and 2) the ability to schedule messages to send at a certain date. These two alone would easily boost the rating up, but their lack is a frequent source of frustration.

To search a word (or words) for a specific contact, type in the intended contact name and the relevant word (or words) in the search field. You can schedule an SMS or MMS. In the convo press the + icon (next to input field), on the bottom tab click the clock looking icon. Please email [email protected] for any further assistance if needed, thanks.

So Verizon dropped their Messages app. That app was fine, and it's their decision. So, I spent a month trying five other apps, including Textra. By far, Textra won hands down and makes that Verizon app look weak, so I'm glad they dumped it. Textra customization is better than any app I tested, feature rich, fast, and easy to use. The best part is the customer service. I suggested a feature for the visually impaired. Textra responded within a few minutes, thanked me, and is considering that idea.
