E. Phillips Oppenheim

Edward Phillips Oppenheim (22 October 1866 - 3 February 1946) was a well-known and successful English novelist, most notably of mysteries and thrillers. E. Phillips Oppenheim was born on October 22nd of the year 1866 in the town of Leicester, the son of Henrietta Susannah Temperley Budd and Edward John Oppenheim, a leather merchant. He worked in his father's business for nearly twenty years. Many of his working experiences he would later work into his novels and short stories. His literary career began in 1887 with the publication of his novel Expiation. In 1892 he married Elise Clara Hopkins with who he had one daughter. During the First World War E. Phillips Oppenheim worked for the British Ministry Of Information. In 1941 he published his autobiography The Pool Of Memory. E. Phillips Oppenheim died on the February 3rd of the year 1946 in his house 'Le Vanquiedor' in St. Peter Port on the Isle of Guernsey.
