Deborah Herridge is a Senior Lecturer and Primary Science Education Leader for Initial Teacher Education at the University of Northumbria in Newcastle. She is a primary teacher who has successfully led science provision in schools both in the UK and in British International schools abroad. Deborah achieved national recognition as the CPD leader at Science Learning Centre North East where she featured in the Teachers TV series 'Inspirational CPD'. She led a dedicated team providing high quality science professional development for teachers throughout England and beyond, leading professional development nationally in Early Years and Outdoor Education. Deborah continues to develop and lead CPD in a number of Universities in the UK, in schools, with Local Authorities and across the network of Science Learning Centres. Deborah has written numerous books, articles and developed schemes of work in primary science and curricula for the UK and abroad. She is a member of the National Advisors and Inspectors Group for Science and an advisor to the UK governmenton educational resources and curriculum. A Chartered Science Teacher and long-term member of the Royal Institution, Deborah contributes regularly to the popular education press and 'Primary Science' the Journal of the Association for Science Education.
