About the author

Peter Okonye is passionate about youth empowerment and personal and community development. With my years of experience as an assistant pastor, counseling families and young people, and as a parent with two teenage girls, I have spent years with young people and their families, supporting teenagers through the challenges and opportunities that adolescence brings. Drawing on years of experience working with young people, I understand the unique pressures that teenagers face today, and I have decided to write this book to help both teenagers and their parents understand what is going on in and outside the world of teenagers and to help both sides navigate this critical stage of life with confidence and resilience.

During my 11 years working onboard the international railways, I have seen frustrated young people who may be suffering from mental health problems, some under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

I have closely worked with teenagers and parents, and now, writing this book is one of the ways to help those teenagers about to become teenagers, and their families and relatives understand the issues ranging from mental health and self-esteem to academic success and healthy relationships. I have seen firsthand the transformative power of knowledge and self-awareness, and this book, "The Teenage Years," is a culmination of that experience. It is designed to be a comprehensive resource for teenagers looking to understand themselves better, make informed decisions, and build a solid foundation for their future.

As a BA student, I took some introductory courses in psychology and sociology in an international setting, where I was exposed to people from different cultures and backgrounds. Beyond professional life, I enjoy traveling with my family. I believe in the importance of balance, self-care, and lifelong learning, and I strive to instill these values in young people.

I reside in Austria with my two teenage daughters, Paulina and Hannah Okonye, and my loving wife, Andrea Okonye, but I am originally from a West African country.

With "The Teenage Years," I hope to inspire, educate, and empower teenagers to embrace their unique journeys, overcome challenges, and create fulfilling and meaningful lives.
