This second book of the series, truly a stand alone, is just as touching as book one. Caleb Bradshaw is an airman K-9 officer who recently both got injured and lost his partner. He has become a hermit during his medical leave with a future filled with unknowns. Kerry Williams, is his new next door neighbor .A young woman full of life , with a corgi , WIllow, who is a therapy dog. The dog seems to realize Caleb needs help and has multiple escapades into Caleb’s yard, much to his dismay. But as time goes on, Willow starts her magic and Caleb starts to heal thanks to Kerry and Willow. Little does Caleb know that Kerry too has had to overcome a situation that almost crushed her. In addition to an engaging plot and imperfect, strong characters that you will grow to love , I appreciated other points of the story. The reminder that the brave men and women who fight for our safety and freedom, suffer injuries and are affected not only physically but also emotionally and psychologically . Helping them heal , in this case with therapy dogs, is of great importance. Thank you , Ms. Flockton for that reminder. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

The cover of this book caught my eye to start with.,Hot guy and a cute dog! This book is going to be a good one I knew that. Yes I read the first book in the series (which also featured a dog) but know each book is a stand alone so you are fine reading each out of order or alone. BUT I would highly recommend reading Blind Date Bet as well. Kerry has come home to help take care of her dad who is recovering from injuries and can't get around by himself. She has a new job she is starting and a little corgi dog Willow who is a first class escape artist. Her next door neighbor Caleb is snarky, surly and downright broody but Willow is determined to break through all his moods and yes his fence too... almost every single day. I imagine my brother who served in the K-9 unit is just like Caleb and when I read this book I could easily imagine him acting like Caleb did when my brother lost his partner. This book touched so many places in my heart and life. This book is exactly what one wants in a book...it had you thinking about things but escaping at the same time. I look forward to seeing where our author takes me in the next book in this series. I know we will have a little 4 legged friend as well so looking forward to seeing what breed we will get the honor of visiting with.

Next Door Knight was a good 4 star read and book two in the Man’s Best Friend series. This is Kerry and Caleb’s story. Kerry has her father living with her temporarily while he heals from two broken legs. When her dog runs off she ends up meeting her new neighbor Caleb who happened to find Willow. Caleb is currently on medical leave from the air force and is having a hard time coping with things. When Kerry asks him to sit with her dad while she is at work he agrees. Willow is starting to grow on Caleb. He suffered a loss during the ambush he was in and being around Willow is giving him comfort. I really loved Willow, she made me think about my fur babies. And when Kerry would take her to visit the veterans it really tugged at my heart strings, such great therapy. I really enjoyed this read and had so many different emotions while reading. Willow brings these two together to help them heal and find love. Can these two have a HEA?
