Couldn't put it down. Just needed to know what would happen next. The tension in that sense was great. The book was overall great. Guess I just can't give it 5 stars because it didn't finish the way I would've wanted and some part felt like filling. It's also PRETTY unrealistic that a mother would turn against her child, it doesn't make sense.

Good fun to read really enjoyed it, although the second third of the book was a slight struggle due to be being slightly slow. I found Laura a little irritating but Cherry was a great character, this would definitely make a good TV thriller.

I liked this book but was expecting much more. I think Cherry could have been a bit more sinister and that would have made for a more chilling story. But on the whole it kept me interested.

About the author
Michelle Frances graduated from Bournemouth Film School in 1996 and then from the Masters programme at the American Film Institute, Los Angeles, in 1998. Returning to London, she has worked for several years in film and TV as a script editor and producer for both the independent sector and the BBC. The Girlfriend is her first novel.
