I loved, loved, loved this story!! Daisy and Xander’s story in The Proposal Playbook, book four in Samantha Chase’s Meet Me at the Altar series, is an opposites attract romance, between two stubborn, hard working people who are complete opposites. Daisy Sinclair is excited to be working as an event planner with Meet Me At the Altar, after her job as a preschool teacher. Her positive outlook serves her well and she gets along with just about everyone, with the exception of Xander Madden, an ex-military security specialist who works with her boss’s husband. Daisy’s brother asked her for some ideas for proposing to his girlfriend, so she is collecting suggestions and putting it all together in a notebook, calling it a proposal playbook; hoping to maybe use it with their clients. Daisy asks her co-workers and their significant others for advise, ideas, and their thoughts. While many are positive, it is Xander's comments that marriage is not perfect, that affects her the most. Daisy and Xander are totally oil and water; nothing they said to each other is taken in the right way. But boy do the sparks fly. Their attraction is the first thing they can agree on. As they spend more time together, they discover they actually like each other. Daisy is a good girl, the girl next door; she is sweet and understanding but there is a tough side to her. Being the only girl in a military family of four kids, Daisy has learned to protect herself and how to handle the military mentality. Xander is a brooding, temperamental, ex-military man. His attitude on life and love has been molded by his upbringing; a mother he looks like and who deserted their family. Filled with laugh out loud hysterics, off-the-charts chemistry, supportive and caring friends, this was another amazing story by Ms. Chase who wrote a gentle but passionate head-over-heels, fall-in-love in a sweet and satisfying way. I highly recommend The Proposal Playbook to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

THE PROPOSAL PLAYBOOK is the fourth instalment in Samantha Chase’s contemporary, adult MEET ME AT THE ALTAR romance series. This is grade school teacher/wedding planner Daisy Sinclair, and former US Navy SEAL turned security specialist Xander Madden’s story line. THE PROPOSAL PLAYBOOK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Daisy and Xander) THE PROPOSAL PLAYBOOK follows the building romance and relationship between grade school teacher/wedding planner Daisy Sinclair, and former US Navy SEAL turned security specialist Xander Madden. Xander and Daisy’s respective co-workers are also friends and family but Xander’s reputation as a ‘one and done’ kinda guy doesn’t sit well with our story line heroine but the palpable sexual attraction between our couple is masked by their animosity and hostility towards one another, that will slowly turn into something more. What ensues is the frenemies to lovers relationship between Daisy and Xander, and the potential fall-out as their large group of friends throws a proverbial bucket of cold water of their growing love. Daisy Sinclair is all about the romance, and is disgusted by the lack of passionate and tender overtures when it comes to proposals including her older brother’s sad attempts to ask for his girlfriend’s hand in marriage. Designing and writing a proposal playbook, Daisy finds herself dreaming of a romance but the man with whom she is falling in love doesn’t do relationships, romance or happily ever afters. All of his life Xander Madden has been told he is not worthy having watched his mother walk out of his life, leaving a negative impression on our story line hero. Believing he is not the type to settle down, Xander has seen all of his ‘relationships’ as temporary and no real. The relationship between Xander and Daisy is a frenemies to lovers, secret affair between two people with different views of love and romance. Trying to keep their barely veiled attraction and relationship on the down-low, Xander and Daisy find themselves facing off against co-workers and friends, forcing our couple in opposite directions to keep harmony and peace. The $ex scenes fade to black and are mostly implied. The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and well-meaning but their actions throw shade on our couple’s growing love. We are reintroduced to Daisy’s business partners Josie, Skylar, and Lea, as well as Xander’s business partners Daniel and Knox. THE PROPOSAL PLAYBOOK is a sweet and tender story line. The premise is captivating; the romance is passionate; the characters are charismatic but a little bit broken.

Who doesn’t love an enemies to lovers love story? The Proposal Playbook is the story of Daisy Sinclair, wedding, and event planner for Meet Me at the Altar Wedding Services, and Xander Madden, retired Navy SEAL and co-owner of Seal Security Daisy and Xander meet at Josie and Daniel’s wedding, he is Daniel’s business partner in Seal Security. When Xander and Daisy are together, he normally acts like a jerk toward her. Xander has issues from his childhood, his mother left when he was a child, and never returned. An incident after an event at Meet Me at the Altar has left Daisy troubled. She decides to install a security system, and Xander installs her system. Things slowly begin to change between the two of them. Daisy and Xander spend more time with one another and begin secretly dating. A plot twist happens, and everything changes between them. I love Xander conversation with his partner Knox and how he encouraged Xander to reach out to his father for closure. Xander and his father open up to each other in an emotionally charged dialogue about their relationship and past. I love how Daisy and Xander show their vulnerable sides, where Xander admits that he has never felt for any woman the way he feels for Daisy. I love that during their heart-to-heart, Xander apologizes to Daisy and confesses how he really feels about her.
