About this ebook

Welcome to Hathaway House. Rehab Center. Safe Haven. Second chance at life and love.

Jaden Hancock is blessed to still have two arms and two legs, but the one leg is so badly damaged as to be virtually useless. Until he came to Hathaway House, he’d never expected that it might become a vital part of his future. He’s willing to work for it, it’s just hard to see the lack of progress even after weeks. He knows he needs to accept his current state, but that feels like giving up. And that’s something he’s not prepared to do. But as defeat, and hope, and depression and final triumph he sees a future he’d never been able to envision before.

Brianna Kole slowly adjusted to Hathaway House. She’d crossed the country to get away from her old life. As the newest staff member, she was polite but not overly friendly. She’d built walls to protect herself from getting hurt again. Only she’d arrived close to the same time as Jaden and in spite of her reservations they’d hit it off instinctively gravitating to the other new guy. But it wasn’t long before she was questioning her feelings… and his.

It seems one step forward, then one step backwards. Will these two figure out what’s really important? Before it’s too late?

Another delightful story in the brilliant Hathaway House series, this is a standalone book but all the lovely characters from the previous books in the series appear like old friends. Jaden Hancock was badly injured whilst serving as a Navy SEAL, his rehabilitation was static and Jaden was at the point of accepting that he would be wheelchair bound for the rest of his life , a phone call from his friend Iain, another injured SEAL was to change his mind. Iain convinced Jaden that he had made astonishing progress and urged him to join him at Hathaway House. Hathaway house is an amazing rehabilitation unit mainly for the holistic treatment of injured military personnel, it is owned and run by Dani Hathaway and her father, the major. Brianna Kole was a new nurse at the unit, she had moved across country to start a new life, Brianna was jilted at the alter by her fiance who had been having an affair with her best friend. Jaden and Brianna struck up a friendship but Jaden was convinced that no one would want to have a relationship with someone with his injuries and Brianna had put up barriers to prevent herself from further hurt. With the help of the wonderful staff at Hathaway House including Shane the physio, Dennis the chef and Stan the vet who looks after the animals that are used in the healing process, Jaden and Brianna overcame their demons and fell in love. I love the empathy that all the staff have with the injured military patients, I love the picture the author paints of Hathaway House and I love the psychology of the healing process that Dale Mayer writes about and has obviously researched well. This is a lovely gentle love story of triumph over adversity. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

We are back to Hathaway House, a special Rehab Center for wounded soldiers with both the physical and the mental hits our guys take way too often! Here they can feel safe and well cared for as well. The facilities are the best including and area for a vet to help wounded animals. They have enough land to have horses too. The most important thing they have is hope and love and it shows! This time Jaden joins the group of patients after encouragement from a friend who was helped and still there soon to be off on his own. Brianna is new too but is not a patient, she has just joined the facility. She has no physical disabilities however she has been hurt mentally and is healing as well. Amazing how this author takes unique but also everyday problems, brings them into the open and offers life changing ways to cope and heal. Very well done! An easy, fun and informative read and I really enjoyed it.

Helping is a Two-Way Street. At Iain’s urging and with his strong recommendation, Jaden transfers from his current VA Rehab to Hathaway House, even though he believes that he’s gone as far as he can in his recovery. Iain’s photos of his success at Hathaway House have piqued Jaden’s interest, so he goes there in the cautious hope that there really might be a brighter future for him. Brianna is a new part-time relief-nurse/part-time information-technologist on the Hathaway House staff, having moved a very long distance to escape a dark time in her past. Originally bonding as fellow newbies at HH, Jaden and Brianna find themselves together also as nurse-patient. As Brianna tries to help Jaden deal with the difficult emotional issues that inhibit his physical progress, it opens a path of help and healing for her at Hathaway House. A beautiful story. This series never fails to provide inspiration. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
