Double Edged by Nyla K is amazing! Nyla has the uncanny ability to take a distasteful subject, turn it into a terribly complicated situation, then somehow bring about a beautiful HEA. The most basic description of Double Edged is that it's a story about twins that fall in love with each other and then with their step father. It's so much more than that! Cyrus and Colson only have each other; each understood only by the other; truly loved only by one another. Their life is complicated and troubled. Tauren becomes their step father and he is the first person to really see them for who they are. In his efforts to truly understand them, he becomes friends with Cyrus and almost enemies with Colson. Eventually passions boil over, difficultly ensues, and tragedy strikes. It is a beautiful story, well written and everything you'd expect from Nyla K! Read this book! Firstly don't read this book without seriously taking the content warnings into consideration, this book will not be for everyone at all. I personally was utterly intrigued by this book and love how thought provoking Nyla K books are, as I slowly work through her books and I am a bigger and bigger fan of her work. The character growth, depth and complexity of these characters is unlike any I have read before and that is what made this book honestly spectacular. I had me feeling everything emotion there is but these characters are each truly special in their own right. You don't have to agree with the relationships in this book, most people won't. People love who they love and that honestly is each individual's choice and in this book it just works and is honestly beautiful.

I wish they hadn't included the dom/sub dynamic. Colson doesn't fit that at all. I also have a really difficult time with 3 person relationships unless they're done perfectly and unfortunately, this one just didn't work I'd honestly rather it have just been Cyrus and Colson and Tauren have been a sort of mentor for them or something. He didn't fit. I just skipped an entire smut scene, which I never do. Because I have no interest in reading about Cyrus and Tauren together. Nyla is my absolute favorite author so I hate that I didn't like this more.
