About this ebook

Salvation is the first mesmerising space opera in the legendary Salvation Sequence, by Peter F. Hamilton. For fans of Iain M. Banks and James S. A. Corey.

‘A twisty and hugely satisfying SF thriller that opens a portal on a new and exciting series’ – Alastair Reynolds, author of Revelation Space

Know your enemy – or be defeated.

An alien shipwreck is found on a newly discovered world, and it carries a cargo as strange as it is horrifying. Security Director Feriton Kayne assembles a high-powered squad to assess the threat. But one of the group is hiding something – it will be up to the team to bring back answers, answers that will change everything . . .

Back on Earth, humanity can extend lifespans indefinitely, travel to the stars via portal technology and even make deserts bloom. We seem invulnerable. So when the alien Olyix contacted us, years earlier, we welcomed them. They needed fuel for their pilgrimage across the galaxy – and in exchange they helped advance our technology. But will they prove a blessing – or a curse?

‘A startlingly fresh, vigorous and original cosmic saga’ – Stephen Baxter

Wow! Just finished the first in the Salvation trilogy - a late birthday present using some gift money. Beautifully told, the way it unfolds across distant time periods, and so visionary - as good as any of his others, if not his best yet. Can't wait to dive into the next one...

I've enjoyed all his previous books, some more than others. This has the scale of the Commonwealth Saga, but with much tauter storytelling. The action sequences are reminiscent of the Greg Mandel books, yet the SF has been hardened to not need supernatural abilities. Some really good world building, almost Neal Stephenson levels of extrapolation, and a well-paced and engaging story. If you had become a bit jaded with Peter F Hamilton, Sanctuary proves he can still deliver a brilliant book.

I am in awe of the imagination of Peter F Hamilton, This book is thought provoking, giving glimpses of several different futures for humanity. I could not put it down but I am disappointed I have finished it. It works as a satisfying story on its own but also prepares us for the next installment.
