Oopsie Daisy: A Steamy Romantic Comedy: Professor Student Accidental Pregnancy Romance

I truly, truly loved Kate, but Lochlann was, I felt, a selfish, arrogant, egotistical pillock, and this really detracted from my enjoyment of the book and the story. I’m not sure whether I loathed him because he was so well written, or because he was just wrong for Kate, hence my very on-the-fence three stars. Kate, though, was well written and her character is beautifully developed, along with the reader’s understanding of how hard she’s worked for her position and how very bright she is – and how great it is to have someone with no filter. So, yes, I’m on the fence here, but leaning way over to Kate! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

There’re a lot of years between me and Kate. And I had to keep reminding myself that acting childish isn’t out of character when the character practically still is one. She jokes about being sixteen in a couple of scenes and then pretty much acts like she is for most of the rest of the book. I liked Lochlann. He has no emotional intelligence whatsoever, but I liked Lochlann. I don’t quite understand how these two worked together, but they kept me laughing for the whole book. Yeah, there are some holes in the plot where I would have loved to know more about what happened. And, yes, I think Lochlann is a coward and a great big doofus for the way he handled his job and treated Kate. (I’m feeding him a little bit more rope to hang himself with here, because as I suggested above, he has the empathy of a root vegetable.) And their happy ever after does come about with next to no real effort. But they kept me laughing. I’ve discovered I can gloss over a lot of things that probably irritate the daylights out of other people if a book can keep me entertained. I’m sad to know that I’ve just read the last of the sisters, however, I’m dying to know who’s up next. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Hidden Gems Books.

Kate was just self-effacing enough to be adorable, even when she was being deliberately obstinate in dealing with Lochlann. Professor Gallagher, for his part, is in line for the jerk-of-the-month club but manages to redeem himself just in the nick of time. Each one is more concerned for their respective academic careers than they are for the child they created, but they do eventually get their HEA. There's plenty of humor and steam, and only a few minor inconsistencies that stopped just short of pulling me out of the story. Still, the characters are solid and the family ties help smooth out the wrinkles. If you've read the earlier books in this series, you don't want to miss this one.
