About this ebook

“I don’t want you, little one. I need you. I crave you. My life means nothing without you, but I don’t deserve you.” - Quasim

Ezmira

As much as she loves dancing with her troupe, Ezmira no longer finds joy in traveling the universe. She longs for a place to call home, so despite the opulence surrounding her as they perform at the Raptyre palace, she escapes into the garden for a moment alone.

When a gravelly voice emerges from the darkness, she’s drawn to the male hiding in the shadows, and even when he kidnaps her, she doesn’t fear him like she should.

He demands she dance for him, and when she does, the look of rapture on his scarred face steals her heart. She sees beyond his savaged flesh to the wounded soul underneath and wants nothing more than to love him.

Until her heat hits and she ruins everything by taking too much.

Quasim

Broken from his enemy’s cruelty, Quasim hides away in the most dangerous and decrepit city in the known universe until he’s called home to his best friend’s coronation ceremony. When the beauty on stage carries away his agony with her lithe grace, he longs to watch her dance every day for the rest of his life.

So when he overhears a group of alphas planning to hurt her in the garden, he overreacts and whisks her away to the only place he knows she’s safe. His den.

Until she goes into heat and proves he’s the biggest danger of all.

This was a retelling of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, which if you've read the original it's honestly less dark. However if all you've seen is the Disney version, you're in for something much darker. In the original and the Disney remake Quasimodo doesn't get the girl and he accepts that she doesn't feel that way for him. That's what made it so damn good. In this it was literally centuries ahead of it's time. I wasn't a fan of twisting the original in this manner because he was never supposed to

This was an interesting not just because it was the retelling of The hunchback of Nostra Dame, but because of the fusion of omegaverse and sci-fi tropes. Quasim broke my heart. He was a male that suffered not just physically, but mentally. He was in constant pain and suffered from nightmares of his torture. Ezmira had her own internal demons. She was a dancer who lost her love of the art. Unfortunately, it is not really made clear what she is going through. I wish I had read the previous books

I thoroughly enjoyed this Hunchback of Notre Dame retelling by VT Bonds! The deformed hunchback falling for the beautiful woman is a classic. I immediately fell for the MMC and his tortured soul. Love how caring and empathic the FMC is. Keep these beautiful stories coming, please!. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
