About this ebook

Enjoy this steamy Protector Romance with a reclusive former Navy SEAL hero and a heroine on the run from a killer by award-winning military romance author Patricia D. Eddy.

Wyatt

I'm no hero. Don't much care that the Navy disagrees with me. My years as a SEAL left me with a ledger full of blood, a permanent limp, and a complete inability to function in polite society. Up in the mountains, no one bothers me. Hell, no one even knows I exist. It's better that way.

So why did I bring the beaten and bloodied woman back to my cabin?

Because when I found her trapped in an SUV hanging upside down at the edge of the cliff, she whispered three words I couldn't ignore.

"He'll kill me."

No, he won't, darlin'. Because anyone coming for you? They'll have to go through me. No one messes with a SEAL and survives.

Hope

One night, one mistake, and I’m trapped. My boyfriend-turned-captor will never let me go. Unless I take matters into my own hands and escape. But even then, he finds me, and now the car I stole is hanging upside down, balanced on a tree, on the side of the mountain. In a snowstorm.

When a stranger comes to my rescue, I don’t want to trust him, but I don’t have a choice. Will this bearded mountain man be my salvation? Or will the man who wants me dead kill Wyatt too?

Defending His Hope is a found family, steamy protector romance featuring a reclusive, grumpy former Navy SEAL who'd prefer to be left alone, a heroine on the run from her evil ex, and an adorable Belgian Malinois dog named Murphy.

Each book in the Away From Keyboard series is a standalone, but past characters do reappear in future books so you'll never have to say goodbye to any of them.

Patricia always writes wonderful stories about people that have been damaged by life but yet are still strong in themselves and she has totally hit it out of the ball park with Wyatt and Hope Wyatt was part of the Seal team that rescued West and Dax from Hell mountain but his own terrifying mission as left him damaged both mentally and physically While he tried living in Seattle with the team the constant noise almost drove him crazy so three years earlier he has retreated into the mountain with his dog Murphy who may have been his MWD but is now his service animal (Yes Murphy almost steals the show) One morning while preparing for a storm Murphy reacts and drags Wyatt into the wilderness there he finds a car hung up on a tree after falling over the cliff He quickly rescues the woman and takes her back to his cabin even though he doesn't want her invading his home. Trapped together the attraction flares and he learns Hope is on the run with information against a criminal who has kept her a virtual prisoner for the last three years while she did his books for both his legal and illegal activities With danger closing in he will have to take her to Seattle and it will take the whole team to keep her safe and bring down yet another man who preys on society. be prepared once you turn the first page of this book you aren't going to pout it down until you turn the last page

When I first read this story as the novella Hope Mountain Hero, I was taken in with the immediate action, Wyatt's gruff exterior warring with his falling in love with Hope, and Hope's fear of being found by her dangerous ex with the connections he held. As is the case with most novellas (the enjoyable ones, at least), it was over too quick. It was missing those ups and downs of the couple fighting the demons of their past, waiting in the shadows to crush their newfound affection. And then Defending His Hope brought it alllllll home. “I thought I was better off alone. But having you here…. It makes me want what I can’t have.” Even if you've read HMH multiple times (as I have), you'll thoroughly love this expansion. It still has the quick action and attraction of the original, but it has *everything* else too. Watching Hope and Wyatt navigate their inner fears and learn to trust one another was just as enjoyable as watching the team accept them into the fold of this found-family we know and love. “I’m broken in so many ways. Then again, maybe Hope is too. Maybe that’s why we fit.” Highly recommend if you like grumpy mountain men with a penchant for protection and a lovable, smart canine companion. Also, if you enjoy damsels in distress, surviving abuse, ex-military men and women who band together, and the healing that can only be found in the arms of the one you love, it checks off those boxes too. 5 star read, for sure.

In true Patricia fashion, she takes two scarred characters who believe themselves too damaged for love & happiness and takes them on a whirlwind road of threats and danger to that HEA we all wish we could have. Wyatt & Hope have that instant connection when fate throws them in each other's paths to help each other out of the shadows...& a loyal dog, let's not forget that icing on the
