About this eBook

A dark alpha romance set in a world of paranormal special operatives. He's a wolf shifter. She hunts monsters. But the heat between them is undeniable.

SWAT werewolf Zane Kendrick is on a hunt to take down the man who attacked his pack. He has a duty to the other shifters, and he's not going to be swayed by the smart, sexy agent who comes to his aid. But there's no denying his wolf instincts telling him to do everything he can to protect her—his one true mate.

FBI agent Alyssa Carson is supposed to be working on a case, not getting distracted by the dark promises in Zane's eyes. But this gorgeous alpha is hard to ignore, particularly when he's whispering to her in his British accent. If she doesn't get her head in the game and start finding answers, both she and Zane could be at risk. As the stakes ratchet up, it'll take everything they have to make it out of this mission with their lives—and hearts—intact.

Get ready for some serious smoldering: This shifter romance includes a protective alpha (with a British accent!) who falls for a woman who's supposed to be his enemy, high action and high heat, and a sinister subplot that will leave readers gasping.

Dallas SWAT member Zane Kendrick had travelled to LA in order to track down the man who'd tried to eliminate their whole pack six months before. In a close call, Zane rescues two young women with the fortuitous help of FBI agent Alyssa Carson, who had been looking for them. It doesn't take Alyssa and Zane long to figure out they're looking at different sides of the same coin. While Zane wonders if Alyssa is behind werewolf murders that have been occurring over the world, she fears he might be one of the not-quite-human monsters she's trying to apprehend. To complicate matters, she's terminally attracted to the handsome Brit, and he has already caught her irresistible scent: she's The One, his soul mate. But are they friends or foes? WOLF INSTINCT, book #9 in the SWAT series, stands surprisingly well on its own. It consists mostly of a straightforward investigation where Zane and Alyssa combine their efforts to bring down a common enemy. The other members of SWAT, apart from Rachel Bennett and Diego Martinez who accompany Zane on this mission, only play very minor roles. The story is interesting, but not terribly exciting, and the pace is rather slow; there's more talking than doing. However, this does wonders for the romance, as Zane and Alyssa really get to know each other before embarking on any sort of relationship. And when it does happen, the romance felt genuine, and the intimate scenes were sensuous and tender. The second third dragged a little; there were repetitions and superfluous details that felt like filler and attempts to meet the word count, notably the numerous mentions of fries, over which Alyssa fixated. And maybe it was a case of it's not you, it's me, but the humour felt a bit forced; I thought there was almost a YA vibe, at times. Both characters are well developed and have solid backstories, but it was Rachel who captivated me the most; there's something about her that's profoundly endearing. With the Curtis family, the story seemed to be heading in a very promising direction, but they got pushed into the background somehow. I thought Stefan was severely underused; he seemed delightfully wicked. There were some minor contradictions and inconsistencies, and the level of security for the bad guys seemed to fluctuate according to plotline requirements. The ending left me somewhat confused; it was a bit convoluted, and some things felt way too convenient, particularly if one plot twist is confined to this installment. Overall WOLF INSTINCT is rather mellow, and ideal for a lazy summer day.

Happy dance😀. I love both series by Paige Tyler and though. I am not caught up (I have them all) I could not pass up the opportunity to grab the Arc, Wolf Instinct was fresh, did not read as a ongoing plot in different stories. It was like finding a new author covering new ground with just enough pop of older drop ins from the pack to have the warm fuzzy of family. Alyssa was fantastic! Part of an covert FBI that is aware of supernatural, but not werewolves Strong, self aware women and Zane our hunky damaged werewolf. Our heroes become aware of more supernatural then themselves and as they stake out the bad guys Alyssa and Zane connect. Hot erotic love scenes, which if you don't enjoy (like me) skim over, but don't let that deter you. The plot is intriguing, suspenseful, sexy, family with an awesome HEA. Love the hint of things to come. Thank you Paige Tyler, Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the Arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own and we're unsolicited
