"We" is a dystopian novel written by Yevgeny Zamyatin in 1920-1921. It depicts a totalitarian state called the One State, where citizens are closely monitored and referred to by numbers. The protagonist, D-503, is an engineer working on a spaceship called the Integral, which is being built to conquer other planets. He becomes involved with a woman named I-330, who rebels against the strict laws of the One State. "We" influenced other dystopian works such as Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" and George Orwell's "Nineteen Eighty-Four."
