Knightly does a wonderful job establishing an intriguing plot with rapid character development. The mystery unravels at the perfect pace to allow room for depth. There is an air of commercialism behind this novel. Unfortunately we are met with cliche characters such as the rich villain or the shero journalist turn podcaster. It's seen far too often and I wish the characters had as much depth as the story did. It feels like this might have been another stab at appealing to the growing true crime fanbase. The dialogue almost turned me away completely. The dialogue is a bit too formal. No one speaks like this naturally, especially with matters of crime. Fragments make up the dialogue of most crime characters whether fictionally or non fictionally. I do appreciate the lack of graphic sex and nudity. Although there is some, Knightly does a great job leaving much to imagination. I enjoyed reading this series but there's definitely room for improvement.
