Sobre este e-book

A new translation of Goethe's 1790 Torquato Tasso. This edition contains an Afterword by the Translator, a Timeline of Goethe’s Life & Works and a Glossary of Philosophic Terminology used by Goethe. "Torquato Tasso" is a play written by Goethe, inspired by the life and work of the Italian poet Torquato Tasso. The play explores the inner struggles of Tasso, focusing on the tension between his artistic genius and the constraints imposed by the court and society. It delves into themes of creativity, passion, and the sacrifices artists often make in pursuit of their art. Goethe presents a nuanced portrayal of Tasso's emotional turmoil and the challenges he faces in navigating his relationships and societal expectations. The play also serves as a reflection on the nature of artistic inspiration and the complex dynamics between artists and the societies in which they exist. Friedrich von Schiller's acknowledgment of "Torquato Tasso" as a masterpiece underscores its profound exploration of the human condition and the conflicts inherent in the pursuit of artistic excellence.
