About this eBook

With 20 million copies sold worldwide THE SHACK is an international bestseller that explores life's toughest questions through the gripping story of one man's struggle to find answers to his suffering.

Mack's youngest daughter, Missy, was abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, still trapped in his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack. Against his better judgement Mack arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon. What he finds there will change his life forever.

THE SHACK wrestles with the timeless question, 'Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?' Mack's experiences when he faces up to his darkest nightmares will astound you, and perhaps transform you as much as it did him.

This is the kind of book you'll want to tell everyone about. Millions have discovered it already - now it's your turn.

This film tie-in edition includes a new ten-page note from the author on his reflections and experiences of seeing The Shack brought to life on film.

I lost my dad at age 6. Having determined at that early age of my life never to be like him, at 61 this year it didn't occur to me even as a Christian that I needed to forgive my late father. He was a very hard and physically violent man, to his family and to others especially when he's high on marijuana. As the first of 4 children I bore the brunt of his anger but none of us was spared including our mother. Like Mackenzie I tried to protect my mother and siblings from him to no avail. He never went to church but my mother took us to church. When he died after falling ill, I determined in my heart never to smoke or drink alcohol, never to be abusive towards my wife and children or anyone else. I thought I was doing pretty well until I watched The Shack movie a couple of days ago, and it broke me completely. To have lived for over five decades in unforgiveness especially towards my late father without knowing it for this long, threw me down to my knees in repentance and to forgive him.

I've just re-read this amazing book and it tugged at my heart just as it did a couple of years ago on the first read. The first four chapters are a good story of pain, sadness and loss. But after that the book changes gear. Mack's stay in the shack changes him for good. It can change you, the reader, too. It undoubtedly changed me. This is a great and very special book. Not to be missed!

To say that this is a great read is to do this story an injustice. This story will honestly and tenderly penetrate the readers realities and cause them to cry and laugh and wonder and long for the possibility of this personal and involved God...and hopefully help them find him in their own storied lives.Inspiring and life changing! Thank you for retelling Mack's story.

About the author

Wm Paul Young was born a Canadian and raised among a technologically stone-age tribe by his missionary parents in the highlands of what was then New Guinea. He suffered great loss as a child and young adult, and now enjoys the 'wastefulness of grace' with his family in the Pacific Northwest. Paul wrote the first version of THE SHACK many years ago when his children were small. He wanted them to understand God's grace, and that his concern and love for our wellbeing is constant. Over the years THE SHACK has grown, developed and through many different versions turned into the great success it is today.
