She is sent to live with her eccentric uncle Archibald Craven in his dreary country house, Misselthwaite Manor. Having had a spoilt childhood with servants doting on her, being forced to live in relative independence comes as an unpleasant shock to her, but she slowly learns to adapt. One day when exploring the grounds, to her great delight, Mary discovers the existence of a mysteriously locked, run-down walled garden inside the property and becomes determined to find a way inside and restore the garden to its original glory.
Sobre o autor
Frances Hodgson Burnett was an English novelist and playwright, popular for her children’s stories, especially The Secret Garden and Little Lord Fauntleroy, and her romance novels as well. The Secret Garden is undoubtedly her most enduring novel. Considered a classic of children’s literature, it has seen countless adaptations to the stage and screen since its release in 1911.
