James Thomson (1700–1748) was a Scottish poet and playwright, renowned for his works that vividly intertwine natural landscapes with philosophical musings. Thomson's magnum opus, 'The Seasons', is a series of four long poems, which are an in-depth exploration of nature and the human experience throughout the different times of the year.
