There are numerous adaptations of his books for film, theater, and TV series. Not to mention the references and versions, as well as literary parodies of the character. His work is a landmark in world literature; not only is it extensive, but it also brought innovative characteristics to the writings of his time that are still reflected today. Gothic, science fiction, detective novels, mythology and regionalism, mystery stories, realism—all of these can be found in the books written by this author.
