Nate reads--when he hears the neighing of a horse outside. The horse is saddled, but there is no rider.
He checks and finds by the brook the frozen body of a cattle driver. Desperate to save the man, he scoops him up. It takes Nate a minute to realize--he's holding a woman in his arms...
