Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) was one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America and a leading scientist who played an important role in the discovery of electricity. He negotiated the peace treaty of 1783 that ended the war with Britain and played an important role in setting up the institutions of the young United States.
