The Andalite Chronicles was an amazing children's science fiction book even if you don't want to get into the Animorph's Series as a whole. Kind of a children's version of Invasion of the Bodysnatchers/Dreamcatcher/Xtro.

K.A. Applegate is the married writing team Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant. Their Animorphs series has sold millions of copies worldwide and alerted the world to the presence of the Yeerks.
