Killer Smile: An enemies to lovers small-town romantic comedy

Seb uses the charming facade like a weapon. He's all easy smiles but he has ethics and lines that he will not cross for anyone. Nicole is just amazing at what she does. The banter between them is brilliantly witty. I loved the way the story unfurled and lots of big family secrets are being revealed. Her sister's wedding is hilariously original and I'd loved to have had that kind of day! It's kind of sad to leave them behind but I do hope it's not the last we see of Nicole and her siblings.

If a fun and beloved series has to be concluded, this is the way to do it. The busy storylines were active in all directions while engaging, amusing, surprisingly twisty, and delightfully unpredictable with generous helpings of smirk-worthy snark. I was pleasantly surprised at the multiple layers, clever texturing, and unexpected complexity of the characters, they were not who I was expecting them to be. Tawna Fenske is a wily one.

I loved Sebastian and Nicole’s swoony love story. It is a hot suspenseful romance that keeps you enthralled from the first sentence to the last. It’s filled with all the emotions, the connections and the love. Nicole runs a daycare for families who are running from abusive partners or in witness protection. Sebastian is a dentist but he’s also a paid assassin. His new dental office is next door to Nicole’s daycare. Seb is friend’s with Nicole’s brother but she is not his biggest fan. She’s thinks he’s a player who does not treat women well. Seb really likes Nicole and he’s not what he appears but then neither is she. Seb and Nicole are both smart, funny, and wildly appealing characters. As the mystery, the danger, and the suspense ratchet up, Seb and Nicole spend more and more time together. Secrets are shared and wounds are exposed. The feels that result from watching the closeness develop between these two guarded but lonely people is romantic suspense perfection. This book has a little bit of everything just like you would expect from a good romantic suspense story - sweet moments, strong friendships and family, sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, painful pasts, dangerous high stress situations, mystery, surprises, and some chuckles. I am sad to see the end of this series but hopeful we might see them some in the Juniper Ridge series.
