Zoey Beckett, still haunted by the loss of her parents in a plane crash, has closed herself off from relationships and pours herself into her teaching. But when the school board implements changes that would hurt her students, Zoey resigns.

Foreign news correspondent Tyler Farrington has seen too much violence. When the facts he reports are suppressed, he resigns. Desperate to recharge, he buys a mountain cabin in the small town of Cedar Creek.
