Focusing on soft computing techniques and application in various engineering research domains, this book presents the state-of-the-art outcomes from ongoing research works being conducted in various research laboratories and educational institutions. The included research works deal with estimated models and give resolutions to complex real-life issues. In the field of evolutionary computing and other domains of applications, such as, data mining and fuzzy logic, soft computing techniques play an incomparable role, where it successfully handles contemporary computationally intensive and complex problems that have usually appeared to be inflexible to traditional mathematical methods. Comprising the concepts and applications of soft computing with other emerging research domains, this book cherishes varieties of modern applications in the fields of natural language processing, image processing, biomedical engineering, communication, control systems, circuit design etc.

Dr. Samarjeet Borah is currently working as Professor in the Department of Computer Applications, Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), Sikkim, India. Dr. Borah handles various academics, research and administrative activities. He is also involved in curriculum development activities, board of studies, doctoral research committee, IT infrastructure management etc. along with various administrative activities under SMU. Dr. Borah is involved with three funded projects in the capacity of Principal Investigator/Co-principal Investigator. The projects are sponsored by, AICTE (Govt. of India), DST-CSRI (Govt. of India) and Dr. TMA Pai Endowment Fund. Dr. Borah is involved with various journals of repute and book volumes as Editor/Guest Editor.
Dr. Ratika Pradhan is working as Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology since July 1999. She received Ph.D. from Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) in 2011 and M.E. (CSE) from Jadavpur University, Jadavpur, in 2004. Her areas of research interest are digital image processing, remote sensing, and GIS. She has published 25 journal papers, and 5 conference papers. Dr. Pradhan also completed few research projects funded by All India Council for Technical Education, Govt. of India.

Nilanjan Dey is an Asst. Professor in the Deptt. of IT at Techno International New Town, India. He is a visiting fellow of the University of Reading, UK. He was awarded his PhD. from Jadavpur University in 2015. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Ambient Computing and Intelligence, IGI Global, and Series Co-Editor of Springer Tracts in Nature-Inspired Computing, SpringerNature. He is the Indian Ambassador of IFIP – Young ICT Group.
Dr. Phalguni Gupta received his Doctoral degree from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 1986. He started his carrier in 1983 by joining in Space Applications Centre (ISRO) Ahmedabad, India as a Scientist. In 1987, he joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, India. He is a Professor in the department. Currently, he is the Vice Chancellor of GLA University, Mathura. He has published about 300 papers in International Journals and Conferences. He is also an author of 2 books and 14 book chapters. He has dealt with several sponsored and consultancy projects which are funded by the Government of India. Some of these projects are in the area of Biometrics, System Solver, Grid Computing, Image Processing, Mobile Computing, and Network Flow. He has established the Biometrics Lab at IIT Kanpur.
