About this ebook

Selected by Newsweek as one of the 30 Best Car, Truck and Motorcycle Books for Kids

When we hear snowy day we imagine sledding, snow angels, and hot chocolate. Siena, who lives in Ottawa, also thinks of dance!

Why? Because, when the snow comes down the plows show up and perform what she calls the Dance of the Snow Tractors.

Join Siena on her porch with a mug of something warm and enjoy the show. You'll never see snow plows quite the same way again.

Not Quite Sure about the Dance -- The relatively simple, mutedly colored illustrations in this book are lovely. The illustrator did a good job showing snow and activities done in it by both humans and machines. There's not much of an actual story here. Rather, we first see a young girl enjoying the snow with her family by building snow people and then adults working on clearing driveways and paths. When she comes in from the cold, we then watch the work of snowplows and snowblowers through her eyes... Perhaps because I did not grow up in a place that snowed often, I wasn't quite sure what the dance of the snow tractors actually was. The young girl did point it out just before pages showing these big machines going in straight lines down the street or S patterns… at a place that isn’t clear. Where's the dance? However, if you do live in snow country, your little ones may be able to identify better with the character and the snow tractor dance. -- I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
