I bought and read this book as a favourite author of mine posted on social media about it. I wanted a light hearted romance after reading a few crime novels. However, it was a struggle to read it to the end. Firstly, the writing felt clunky with too many weird similes and flowery descriptions, which prevented the prose from flowing. Secondly, I felt no empathy or connection to the main characters, between who there was no chemistry. The plot felt like a series of events roughly strung together, in a world I never felt comfortable in. Whether the story was good or appealing to the reader, it has been let down by poor writing and bad editing.

Sarah Hogle wrote her first construction paper book at age 5, and hasn't stopped since. Now a stay at home mom of two in Southern Ohio, she spends her free time planning weird pranks and hoping for a haunted castle to call her own. She believes in enchanted forests and happy endings.
