Oh how I’ve missed Hart’s Boardwalk, it’s been way too long since I’ve visited Hartwell, I blooming love Hartwell, and all the people associated with it. Book 4 sees the possibility of a happy ever after for the resident bookworm, uber shy Emery Saunders, and the black sheep of the Devlin family, Jack. We’ve known from previous books that Jack is not the bad boy everybody seems to think he is. We’ve seen him do a couple of good deeds unbeknownst to the residents of Hartwell, we just had no idea why. Well keep reading folks (the book, not my review), because all will be revealed. The story goes back in time 9 years to when Emery moves to Hartwell, having inherited a property coveted by the notoriously power hungry Ian Devlin, (that man has no morals), the story then moves through the years to the present day. What a truly wonderful love story. I loved Jack throughout, even when I didn’t agree with his thought process, the poor man couldn’t do right for doing wrong. Emery too could be stubborn, but I loved watching her come out of her shell and truly shine. What a truly wonderful group of friends. I laughed, I cried, I lived the story, I could picture myself in Hartwell, a part of this wonderful family. Definitely one of my favourite reads this year. Perfect writing, perfect story, perfect ending. Although this story can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the previous books in the series to get a real feel for this wonderful town and it’s residents. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.

OH MY HEART as a fan of the Hart’s Boardwalk series I have been waiting for Jack and Emery’ story from the moment they set eyes on each other across the counter of Emery’s bookstore. It was worth the wait. The Truest Thing spans the nine years Emery has been in Hartwell interspersing current events with revelations from the past. So many unexpected things have occurred between Jack and Emery that everyone was completely unaware of and only serve to make your heart clench with each one. The narrative deals with all of the hidden details about Jack and Emery that have been alluded to throughout the series including Emery’s upbringing and the reason Jack went to work for his father. It has always been obvious that despite some of his actions, Jack is a genuine and caring person. Sadly trapped into a life not of his choosing but for valiant reasons, he exasperates the situation by embracing his negative thoughts and becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy. Setting fire to bridges as he goes. Emery on the other hand never loses her innate kindness and despite her shyness, people gravitate to her inner light. I completely adored her character progression through The Truest Thing. The Truest Thing provides a two for one romance as Ivy’s story is also included alongside Emery’s. The entire cast of the Hart’s Boardwalk series play an active part in Jack and Emery’s story with ingenious recaps of their personal stories interwoven within the narrative. As well as being able to witness the progression of each of their relationships. While I am sad to say goodbye to Hart’s Boardwalk I am holding onto hope that the future generations will get their own turn in the spotlight.

I realized after I purchased this book, which is actually Book#4 of the series- the content inside is of Book#3 (The things we never said) . This is misleading and not right- I bought the book based on the title and Synopsis. Luckily, the google team accepted my request for refund based on this. However, please make sure Google is selling the right books which do not have misleading titles.
