Ideas for a More Sustainable Home Have you ever considered having a more sustainable home—relying on yourself for necessities instead of outside interests or businesses—whether for certain aspects of living (like food or beauty products) or going all the way? This book, especially at first, feels like more of a survey of DIY sustainable home projects than the projects themselves. The author shares ideas, but not the specifics. In places here and there and more towards the end, the author does give specific instructions for how to, say, make compost tea or homemade Castile soap. The book is broadly divided into six categories, the longest of which is food; however, the author also looks at alternative energy sources as well as making health and beauty products (plus other topics). If you're interested in having a more sustainable home, this book might help you figure out which projects you want to give a try, even if you need to go to other sources to get the full directions. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Many people would like to establish a more sustainable home, relying on self-sufficiency for necessities rather than shopping and using big business. The author presents ideas without going into specific details. However, scattered throughout the book and more prominently towards the end, the author does provide explicit instructions on tasks like creating compost tea or homemade soap. The book is categorized into six sections, with the longest focusing on food.
