Not my usual fare but read it bc reasons. Good: The star couple are lovable characters, the kids are ok, the villain is despicable. It's a compelling read with feels. Bad: Excessive hyphens. Author's world is extremely white and straight. Diversity is only hinted at in a caricature way. There's some lazy, sloppy writing when the villain is given the clue he needs on a silver platter & is somewhat excused in the way white terrorists are in the USA ; mental issues. Improbable fluff, but ok fluff.

this book was one the best books i have ever read! it is hard to write a romance novel without a predictable ending, but Nicholas sparks words are so beautiful and heart-touching that it is irrelevant. the book and the film do not disappoint, and i would recommend it to anyone, because not only does it have romance but it is a mystery and thriller all the while!
