Attracting Your Best Self While I absolutely adore nonfiction, oftentimes I am disappointed by the shallowness of some books out there, especially brief self-published ones on trendy topics. That's why I found this book to be an absolute delight. It's so much more than just “the secret to attracting luck.” Rather, it is a set of 50 essays about how to develop aspects of yourself that may just happen to help bring you luck. Some typical self-help topics are here, like gratitude, affirmations, and visualization, but it also has more atypical ones as well, like contentment, taking calculated risks, and expanding your mind. At the end of some, but not all, of these 50 sections is a list of exercises that will help you gain a better sense of the topic at hand. I sincerely wish that each section had such a list. What I like about these essays is that the author not only talks about the concept in general but also refers to outside sources about the topic as well. The academic in me appreciates a well-referenced book. This is a great book to read in small chunks. Each of the 50 sections is short but gives you much to think about. Highly recommended. I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
