About this ebook

To most people, thanks to Mark Twain, "Mississippi" suggests riverboat. Here, from award-winning historian Ralph K. Andrist, is the dramatic story of the great, Mississippi steam paddle-wheelers and the world through which they moved - a world these revolutionary ships and their captains, crews, and creators were largely responsible for bringing into being.

A very nice short book on the goings on on the mighty Mississippi during the steamboat era. So many great and infamous stories about the people of the time. An easy read with often fascinating accounts of how different of a world existed at that time and in those places, some of which have completely disappeared since. Nicely done. I would recommend it.
