Platone (428/427 a.C. – 348/347 a.C.) è stato un filosofo greco antico. Assieme al suo maestro Socrate e al suo allievo Aristotele ha posto le basi del pensiero filosofico occidentale. Fondò ad Atene l'Accademia. La sua opera, arrivata fino ad oggi, comprende tredici lettere e una trentina di dialoghi.
