About this ebook

Have you ever wondered how your body defends you from disease? It happens because we have the immune system. And what is the immune system? The immune system is a network of interconnected organs, tissues and cells whose mission is to protect us against foreign agents. In this way it is possible to have a defense response against an infectious agent. It is located in the bone marrow, thymus, tonsils, adenoids, Peyer's patches, liver, spleen and lymph nodes, among others.

How does it work? Through the detection of pathogens and its response to eliminate them. The success of maintaining health can be attributed to the ability of the immune system to recognize and consequently respond against microbes or substances in a targeted manner.

What is the inflammatory response? It is the response of a living organism to tissue damage caused by a foreign agent that may be physical, chemical or biological. A homeostatic process in which the Nervous System and the Immune System participate, oriented to destroy, dilute or isolate the aggressor agent and is intimately related to the process of coagulation and repair, with the purpose of correcting the damage caused.

At this moment you must be wondering What is the relationship between cannabinoids and the immune system? There is a reason for the relationship. Cannabinoids have been used for many years for different purposes. Recently, discoveries have emerged about their mechanisms of action and therapeutic targets, as well as the alterations in the endocannabinoid system observed in various diseases and conditions that manifest with pain, inflammation, autoimmune pathologies and different organ-specific disorders. In addition, fundamental elements of the endocannabinoid system are found in the cells of the immune system and you will learn about this in detail in this ebook.

A lot of questions, right? These and other questions will be solved with this ebook that Pharmacology University brings to you.
