About the author

Ockert Dupper is a Research Officer at the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland, and Extraordinary Professor of Law at Stellenbosch University, South Africa. Before joining the ILO, he was Vice-President of Programs at the Fair Labor Association in Washington, DC. Between 1996 and 2012, he was Professor of Law at Stellenbosch University, where he taught labour law and social security law. He has published widely on a number of topics, including employment discrimination, affirmative action, extension of social protection, unemployment insurance, and the rights of migrant workers. He received his BA from Stellenbosch University, his LLB from the University of Cape Town, and his LLM and SJD from Harvard Law School, where he was a Fulbright scholar.

Kamala Sankaran is Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. Her research work is in the areas of constitutional law, international labour standards and the ÿinformal economy. She is currently working on the legal regulation of the informal economy, and equality and discrimination issues in South Asia.
