About the author
Ferdinand Emmerich (* 8.07.1858 Viersen-Hamm; † 02.08.1930 Pasing) war ein deutscher Forscher, Abenteurer und Reiseschriftsteller. Seine Kindheit und Jugend verbrachte Emmerich in Hamm. Sein Studium brach er ab und reiste als Schiffsjunge nach China, von wo aus er die Inselwelt der Südsee kennenlernte.
