HOW MANY LIFETIMES DOES IT TAKE TO LEARN HOW TO LIVE?

Tom Hazard has a dangerous secret. He may look like an ordinary 41-year-old history teacher, but he’s been alive for centuries. From Elizabethan England to Jazz-Age Paris, from New York to the South Seas, Tom has seen it all. As long as he keeps changing his identity, he can stay one step ahead of his past – and stay alive. The only thing he must not do is fall in love.

But what if the one thing he can't have just happens to be the one thing that might save him?

Superficial with a rushed ending and nowhere near as good as other books by the same author. I can't believe a film is being made of this book rather than The Humans......

It's a good book but ending is kinda rushed and there is no character development for the main antagonist. I feel like there is more story to tell. Overall it really feels like you are living history. Definitely worth the read.

Matt Haig became my favourite author after reading The Last Family In England. Then read The Radleys (brilliant), The Humans (best book I'd ever read at the time) and Echo Boy (fantastically different) before reading the autobiographical 'Reasons To Stay Alive' (life-changing). But now Haig has surpassed himself and, for me, is the greatest living writer of fiction. 'How To Stop Time' is both devastating and exhilarating. It's a phenomenal book and should be read by everybody!
