About this ebook

How to Press Ahead (and Should You?) When All Is Wrong

As much as we’d like to avoid suffering in life, all of us will occasionally face earth-shattering hardships. You might be dealing with one now, or perhaps your friend or a loved one is, or maybe you’d just like to prepare yourself for when one inevitably occurs in your life. Self-Discipline in Difficult Times is the right book for you if you want to learn how to press ahead as your world turns upside down.

Some of the topics I discuss in the book include:

 - in which situations self-help advice helps and in which you should stay away from it,

- how to avoid making a bad situation worse when you’re under too much pressure,

- how to take care of yourself during difficult times without sabotaging your long-term goals,

- how to begin the process of recovery with three fundamental strategies,

- how to prepare yourself for inevitable future crises with an uncomfortable, but effective practice,

- how to help a friend struggling with a crisis.

Mental resilience is our most important tool for surviving a rupture. This book can give you some hope and comfort that you’re not alone in whatever you’re facing.

I received an early copy for free on the condition that I would honestly review this book. While much of this book was written to help people cope with the virus and all the problems associated with it (death, sickness, loss of job, etc.), those did not really effect me because I am healthy and retired. What did help me was the last two chapters about strengthening yourself for future problems and especially helping others who were harder hit by the pandemic. I am not really a "people" person, so this book was a big help to me in how to be useful to grieving people. I really liked the information, and plan to put several of the ideas into practice with my families and friends.

I loved this book because of its simplicity in the advice offered, keeping oneself in the shoes of a person going through difficult times, Martin Meadows has laid down some foundational tips and effective strategies. The strategies in this book could increase your happiness levels too, don't trust me follow the advise and try it for yourself. In suppliment to this book also read the 365 days of discipline by Martin Meadows, I have made a commitment to read this book one page a day this year, and it's jam packed with wisdom and motivation. I recommend this book with the current one because that book too is the foundational stone of personal development and going through difficult times.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for my review. in my opinion, with a few disclaimers, this is a great short book to help during these times. the author does a good job of making sure it is known that this is not scientifically based, more anecdotal and essay format. however, some people will miss that going in. this is a good short book if you know what you are walking in to. it is a brief roadmap to help get yourself back together and moving towards your goals. don't expect scientific explanations or long winded reasons behind it, and it will help. when you are in turmoil like the book suggests, it helps by giving you a roadmap on where to start getting yourself back together.
