Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit dem Festlandbesitz des Inselstaates Samothrake, der die gegenüberliegende thrakische Küste, die sich von der Hebros-Mündung bis zur Stadt Maroneia erstreckte, umfasste. Die disparaten literarischen und epigraphischen Quellen lassen feststellen, dass Samothrake nicht immer die Kontrolle auf seinen Festlandsgründungen ausüben konnte, und dass die Peraia nicht immer den gleichen Umfang hatte. Die Peraia gehörte in hellenistischer Zeit zum Heiligtum der Großen Götter auf Samothrake und trug die Bezeichnung hiera chôra. Von Interesse ist der Einfluss, den Samothrake auf seine Peraia auf religiöser, politischer und wirtschaftlicher Ebene ausübte.
