Das NS-Regime ergriff mehrere Maßnahmen, um an Schulen den Unterricht des "Gesinnungsfachs" Geschichte ideologisch umzustellen: Neben neuen Lehrplänen wurden z.B. reichsweit gültige Schulgeschichtsbücher geschrieben. Wie diese Geschichtsbücher im Ämterkampf zwischen Partei und Staat entstanden, welche ideologischen Inhalte sie transportierten und warum diese Schulbücher teilweise unterschiedliche Interpretationen von Nationalsozialismus enthalten, wird in der vorliegenden Studie facettenreich herausgearbeitet.
