Maggie is so stubborn after an arsonist burns down her diner and home and Jed barely rescues her and her teenage daughter Susie in time. She keeps saying she doesn’t want handouts and wants control over things she needs to let others handle. Jed has been attracted to Maggie for years and after she kisses him he finally gets the courage to ask her out. But Susie is acting strange and there were several red flags they should have asked her about but then that added to the suspense in the story.
