`The Overweight Patient provides a practical framework to psychological management of obesity. Kathy Leach employs a model of Transactional Analysis psychotherapy to the treatment of obesity. She clearly writes from her considerable clinical experience. The factual information presented in this interesting book conveys the sense of someone steeped in that patient population. It is well written, with a light touch, and I found myself reading it in a single sitting. To any practitioner of transactional analysis, this will be a `must read.''

I bought this book to support my weight loss with LighterLife who use Transactional Analysis as part of their therapy. I have really enjoyed this book and gained a lot from it. Whereas in Lighterlife there is only limitted time, this book really helped me get a thorough understanding of various techniques and solutions. What I love is it covers every sort of behaviour that people with weight issues have and provides good advice about how to overcome various problems. It helped me examine issues that hadn't even occured to me and moved me forward. The only downside for me is the writing style. Kathy Leach always uses the feminine form as the subject. As a male reader I found this slightly hard to overcome but 40 pages in I had got used to this and managed to read it without loosing focus. (To be honest it is fair payback for all the rest of the books in the world using the male subject form!)
