Sadie McCluskey used to love the holidays—until a tragic car accident took her parents and her ex-husband walked out a week before Christmas. Now, she spends her Decembers tending her urban farm, far from holiday cheer. That is, until Hank Dabrowski and his kindergarten class show up for a field trip. Suddenly, Sadie’s wondering if Christmas might still have a little magic left, especially when she catches herself dreaming of getting Hank under the mistletoe.

After a decade as a Navy SEAL, Hank is ready for a quieter life. He moves to Snowside to teach kindergarten, determined to start fresh after breaking off his engagement. Burned but hopeful, he still believes in true love. When he sees Sadie lighting up his students’ faces on her farm, it stirs something deep inside him—but can he convince her he’s the Christmas gift she didn’t know she needed?

Enter Jody and Nick Claws: a plaid-loving, twinkle-eyed duo who might just be the real Santa and Mrs. Claus. With their not-so-subtle nudging, will Hank and Sadie discover that sometimes love—and Christmas miracles—are right under your nose?

Since I lost my older brother just before Christmas, I have needed HEA's about Christmas more than I thought possible. This one got me through my grief with love and hope in my heart. Thank you for all the blessings you have given me.

About the author

For over thirty years, I’ve stood behind the lens of a camera, capturing the heart of agriculture—wading through cow pastures, rice paddies, and sprawling orchards. As a photojournalist specializing in agriculture, I’ve told stories rooted in the land, its people, and their passion.

Now, I channel that same storytelling spirit into deeply emotional, small-town contemporary romance. My novels weave themes of love, community, and sometimes, the agricultural threads that have shaped my own journey. Some of you may remember me as Kate Curran, but these days, all my books are published under my name, Kathy Coatney.

In addition to romance, I write the nonfiction children’s series From the Farm to the Table and Dad’s Girls, celebrating the connection between farm life and the food we enjoy.

When I’m not writing, you’ll likely find me mountain biking, cross-country skiing, strength training, or out for a jog—though tortoise pace might be a more accurate description!
