About this ebook

He's supposed to be a prince, not a prisoner...

Things are as bad as they can get for Ranger when he's thrown in a cell and told he's about to be sold for a profit. But his captors don't know he's a dragon, and he's ready to rain fire on them all in payback.

Until he meets Sidney.

She's stronger than she looks...

When Sidney discovers Ranger on the ship, it throws her world into upheaval. She's no slaver. She'll do what it takes to free him, even if it means crossing her captain and crew. When Ranger turns the tables on her, she's almost too angry to be attracted to him.

Almost.

Freeing Ranger has repercussions. And soon it's not just Sidney that's in danger, but everyone she loves as well. She'll need to trust the dragon prince if she's going to save them all.

But how can she do that without losing her heart?

Ranger is book 2 in the Kate Rudolph series Dragon Brides that falls within a multi-author series Intergalactic Dating Agency. All of the authors' book series will be standalone, so it's safe to start with any author. This series can pretty safely be read standalone as well (there's a bit of humor that will be lost if you didn't read Crux, but nothing more). The book is written in third person omniscient from both leads' point of view (alternating). Ranger is an alien/shapeshifter/dragon/royalty story featuring a prince captured to be sold into slavery while searching for his mate and an orphaned human from a backwards colony with a lot to learn about the universe. Ranger is a shapeshifting dragon prince who, unlike his brother, really wants to find his mate and settle down. Sidney is a mechanic for a failing colony who finds herself on a spaceship run by her people but doing things she never dreamed they could possibly engage in: slavery. There's obviously a good bit of reality checks for our heroine, but she does a phenomenal job of staying true to herself and I rather liked her for that. Ranger is generally just a good guy and really perfect for her in the end. They go through some adventures, have a little fun mixed in with their danger, and even have a space battle! All in all, the book was a quick bit of fun. If you like your aliens to come with scales and fire, a bit of steam in your romance, some coming into your own heroine moments, and bit of action this book is a good little read! Looking forward to Saber!

This is the third book in this series which is about Prince Ranger and Sidney. Ranger is looking for his brother Crux so he follows the advice of the fortune teller that guided Crux to find his true love. Ranger traveling in space gets a S.O.S. signal and investigates it, only to be capture by humans and put in a cell. Ranger finds himself to be sold as a slave. Sidney fixes the machines around the settlement when she's told Boar wants to talk with her. Boar tells Sidney that he needs her on the ship. Then she hears about the merchandise and goes to her work station. While there a heat sensor alert is coming from the cargo area and she goes to check it and finds Ranger who escaped his cell. What happens afterward was a engaging story that I enjoyed reading. I volunteer to read and review this ARC that I received via Booksprout.

Ranger is not exactly happy with himself at being captured by slavers but is determined that he will not be sold on the open market but how to escape. Sidney was a foundling who had been raised on a poor and barren planet by the community who lived there. She has been raised to be very good with mechanics and does the best she can with the limited resources at her disposal but there is only so much she can do and with the air quality and water quality being close to completely toxic she is at her wits end. When she gets taken on the community's ship to their next run she discovers Ranger and is horrified to learn that the settlement has been run on the proceeds of slavery. Ranger recognises Sidney as his mate the second she redirects his fire but convincing her of the guilt of the people she considers family will have to take precedence over their bond. Join Ranger and Sidney as they do their best to save her community from a slaver ring and build a new life for themselves and her, very, extended family. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
